How do I book a session?
Easy! Contact me using the link above. Book early to reserve your desired date and time! Sessions are booked 4-8 weeks in advance depending on the time of year.
When/where do sessions take place?
I shoot all of my sessions using available natural light. Morning and late afternoon hours are preferable if we are shooting outside. If shooting inside, morning and midday hours work best. We will find the best time that works around your child’s schedule. Most sessions take place in/around your home, or at various outdoor locations. After booking I will send you a questionnaire to get to know you and your family and together we will work on location and wardrobe styling.
My house? Really?
Yeah, really! Your house doesn’t need to be on the cover of Architectural Digest to be an amazing location for your session.
What if my kid gets a fever the day of our session?
Unexpected illnesses or bad weather might cause us to postpone your session, I’m happy to reschedule within 3 months of the originally planned session.
What do we wear?
I get asked this the most, and I’m happy to help consult with you on this after you book your session. Coordinating is great, matchy-matchy, not so much. I will give you some tips, but also want you to be you.
What if my kids/dog are acting a little crazy during the photo shoot?
Don’t worry about it! I have two fast-moving boys, and a daughter who has her own schedule that doesn’t seem to coincide with anybody else’s. Oh – and two neurotic but very lovable corgis who can barely hold still. I’m used to it! It just takes patience and waiting for the right moment. Kids (and dogs) almost always lose interest during photo shoots, and often that’s when I get my favorite shots. Don’t direct them, or tell them to smile. Just leave it to me! Sometimes it helps me to take your child aside to photograph them, without the distraction of mom/dad, or siblings.
When will my image gallery be ready?
Images will be ready for upload to your private online ordering gallery within 3 weeks of your session. I will contact you to find a time to upload your gallery that works well with your schedule. Proofing galleries are live online for 7 days, during which time you make your selections, download your included digital files and place your portrait order. Very detailed ordering information is sent along with your gallery link.
What kind of products do you offer?
I offer fine art prints, gallery wrapped canvases, digital files with printing rights and albums. I find that most of my clients like to order a combination of wall art products and digital images, and that everyone is different in what appeals to them, so my collections reflect that. You aren’t limited to these products – they sky is the limit, please ask if there is something else you are interested in!
When will I receive my ordered images?
Orders go into production once payment is received. Typically, printed orders will arrive at your doorstep within 2-3 weeks of order placement. Digital files are delivered via direct download to the email address that you provide immediately after purchase. Digital images come with a printing release and printing recommendations.
Do you shoot weddings?
Only if I’m invited 🙂 All kidding aside, I do not shoot weddings. Never say never, but I really love specializing in shoots that focus on children (human and canine), and the connections they have with each other and their families. I also love my summer weekends a little too much to spend all day every weekend shooting!
Do you travel?
Occasionally, as much as my busy family life will allow! I often travel back and forth to various locations in Michigan, mainly southwestern Michigan and Detroit metro. If I am planning any Michigan sessions, I will announce them as far in advance as possible on my blog and Facebook page. Contact me if you are interested in setting up a travel session outside of the IL-MI borders.
