When you are a photographer you find yourself doing some slightly irrational things. Like making your husband take you back to the liquor store you passed a few times on the way to the lake cabin because you noticed the cutest dogs standing guard. This happens to me a lot: I’ll see some trees in…
It’s the end of one month and the beginning of another which means that it is time for our happy little blog circle…lots going on in June. In fact, I finally have a lot of pictures to choose from. Much different than the winter doldrums where I barely pick up my camera. This month was…

Love your shot from the hip! Well played!
FINALLY! IT’S HERE! SUMMER! That’s pretty much all I have to say this month. Follow me around the blog circle to see what my talented friends have been up to this month, starting with the fabulous Krista in Washington! Until next month…we’ll be in the pool or the lake, soaking up the sun as much…

If anyone deserves summer it is you! What a wild, seemingly endless winter you had. This is so playful and bright. Wonderfully YOU.
It’s blog circle time again! Earlier this month, we had a fantastic trip to Florida. Much needed sunshine after months of cold and snow. Charlie figured out how to swim underwater all on his own, and spend the majority of each day in the pool. He was so excited about it, and I was able…

[…] 3. Olympus TG-3 Waterproof 16 MP Digital Camera. I really wanted something I could use underwater but didn’t want to spend the almost $2K I’d need to on an underwater housing for my dslr. This camera is so much fun! It shoots still and video underwater or above, and I chose it specifically because you can adjust settings manually. It has a pretty wide aperture for a point and shoot: going down to f/2. That wide aperture is important for getting enough light in while shooting underwater. It’s the perfect beach camera because sand and water can get all over it and it’s no problem. And my kids can drop it (which they have) and it’s all good. All of my underwater shots, and some of my beach shots are taken with this camera. You can see some of these shots here and here. […]
This month has been more of the same this winter: snow and ice. My littlest has fully embraced it as well as the movie “Frozen”, and like so many little kids is completely obsessed with Princesses Anna and Elsa. He’s seen it in the theater four times now. And we have fashioned makeshift “prince capes”…

Such a princely little chip clip chap! Love the red socks!!
A little something different for me this month – macro photography. And it’s not even a shot of a kid OR a dog! Sometimes it’s really fun (and challenging) to jump outside of your genre for a little bit. I loved playing around and shooting some macros of flowers at the Chicago Botanic Gardens last…

How is it that you can turn your hand to anything and do it so well? Love the focus and colours in this image and the fact that you had a fabulous day out with your boys xxx

Beautiful, Jess! I love these colors and oh yes, the joys of not having to edit skin tones! How wonderful is that?! 😉

Oooh, love seeing these from you! The colors are a perfect antidote to winter, too.
