dainty | Chicago children’s photographer

Finally getting back around to some images I took when we were in Florida in March.  Couldn’t help but notice this little cutie as she was exploring the ocean near where my sons were playing.  While my boys were flinging sand around and digging giant holes in the beach, she was cautiously testing the waters.

four!

Four years ago today, at 8:30 a.m., you finally decided to make your entrance into the world and say hello.  All 9 pounds and 9 ounces of you 🙂  Ever since you have grown like a weed into the adorable little dude I know and love today.  Happy Birthday Char!

almost 4

To my sweet little C on his last day of being three years old:  I keep telling you to stop growing and to stay small and you just keep laughing and telling me you can’t help it.  Can you try a lot harder?  Thanks buddy.  You just keep getting better every day.  Love you to the moon and back!

if pugs could talk… | Chicago dog photographer

I am quite certain that pugs were put on earth to make us lighten up.  I have the same reaction to them as I do to Will Ferrell.  I laugh just looking at them, they don’t even have to do anything.  This is Oscar, one of my brother’s family dogs.  The sharpest knife in the drawer he is not, but he is the sweetest snuggly thing and he definitely is hilarious.  Pugs always look as though they are right on the verge of saying something, like they are incredibly frustrated that their faces have been smushed in and their tongues are too big, rendering them unable to speak.

about a boy | Chicago children’s photographer

My cousin Megan asked me to do a session of her family and I was so excited.  So far in this generation of our family, it’s all boys.  Six and counting, to be exact.  And her adorable little one just so happens to be my favorite age.  So here is little G, the absolute pride and joy of his mom and dad.  Currently obsessed with Cars, and roaring like lions/dragons/tigers, among other things.  With a two year old, you never know what they’re going to do next!

out and about|film

Continuing my fun with testing out different types of film, here are a few shots from my second roll of color film.  Film is so fun, it’s unpredictable, I can’t check my LCD screen, and I don’t know what I’ll get until weeks later after the scans are sent back to me from the lab.  I have only shot a few rolls so far, but it’s very exciting to get the email that your scans are ready.  Like opening a little present, and you never know what you’re going to get!  Sometimes good, sometimes bad, always humbling, and mainly just fun.  Playing with film for me is just that, playing, experimenting, having fun with photography.  Nothing super amazing here, but I do love the colors and tones of this film.  It’s a look you don’t see much anymore, and one that can’t be fabricated with digital.  This particular film stock is expired and no longer made, which makes it even more fun and unpredictable.  I’m not sure the colors here are as vivid as they would have been 7 years ago before this stuff expired, but I love how they are kind of washed out now.

Canon EOS3 + 85mm + Portra 160vc (expired) + developed and scanned by Indie Film Lab.
