I know what you’re thinking…dinosaurs are extinct. They roamed the earth for 150 million years and then got wiped out in the Ice Age. Well, think again because I happened to come across these two in a very rare sighting recently. The very rare and previously unknown to science Charlie-odactyl and Nate-osaurus, not only in the wild but caught in action in some sort of tickle fight.

And this month, I’m cheating a little bit – I had trouble deciding on which “one” shot to post…the “fight”, or the hug? So rare to see both in the wild I had to include the hug shot too! Follow me around our circle of friends to see what my dear friend Adele has been up to in October! Happy Halloween!

nephews

I am waaaaay behind on blogging images, just months of stuff piled up over here! These are a few images I shot of my twin nephews when we were all at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, oh, last summer!  Better late than never…these chunky monkeys are already so much bigger. Can’t wait to see how much they’ve grown over Thanksgiving when we will all meet up again!

fair fun|film

Got some film back from some of our late summer adventures. We try to hit up at least one of the county fairs in southwestern Michigan every summer. This summer we went to the Cass County fair and it didn’t dissapoint. Nothing like food on sticks, ice cream, rides, and monster trucks. They boys loved it! And I made my nephews and their buddy go on the hang glider ride 🙂

There are spider webs everywhere at our family’s house up in Michigan. In every nook and cranny – on the house, the pier, on the flowers outside…they are quite beautiful, really. This little web was in such pretty light I had to take a shot at capturing it. I wish I had a macro lens but had to do my best trying to grab focus manually with my 50mm lens.

Helping dogs find homes one click at a time! | Chicago dog photographer

I recently was thrilled to find out I was accepted into HeARTs Speak, an organization comprised of artists, graphic designers, photographers, and other volunteers who donate their time and talent to find homes for homeless pets. A good photograph of an animal can make all the difference in the world in catching a potential new owner’s eye. This past weekend, I did a shoot at Chicago Canine Rescue’s shelter facility. They have a lot of dogs both in the shelter and in foster homes in need of good owners!  I am having so much fun photographing dogs, and I love that I can help some find forever homes through my photography.

If you are interested in a adopting a dog, volunteering your time, becoming a sponsor, or donating in any other way, please contact Chicago Canine Rescue at 773.697.8848.  Shelters and dgo breed rescues:  please contact me at jessica@jessicaremus.com, or using the contact form above, if you think I can be of assistance photographing pets that are in need of homes.

This handsome guy “Capone” was hanging out behind the desk all day when I was doing the shoot and going back and forth outside with various other pups:

And here are some of his friends that are in need of good forever homes. Maybe one of them will be your future best friend!

  • Julia - The pup in bottom right corner has my heart! You clearly are doing your job Jess as you know that I live in a closet condo busting at the seems with the pup that we already do have (oh and a child), and here I am trying to figure out how to take that guy home with me!
Love these sweet faces and love you for doing this!ReplyCancel

September has been a blur, and as I write this it’s cold and gray outside and my feet are freezing which tells me that summer is really over no matter how much I don’t want to admit it! Me and the other fabulous ladies in this blog circle group had a chance to meet up in Colorado for a weekend of fun, hugs, laughs, cries, food, drinks, and of course, photography. I can’t wait to do it again, we had such a blast. And for me, even though there was majestic and beautiful scenery all around to photograph, I couldn’t resist snapping a bunch of shots of Sarah’s golden retriever, Waldo. Waldo is a rescue dog and is featured in a 365 project that Sarah has worked on over the past year, snapping shots of him for her “Where’s Waldo” series which I always get a huge kick out of.

So I finally got to meet this guy (and snuggle with him, he’s such a love), and here he is! My very own Where’s Waldo:

Follow me to Colorado to see what my dear friend Sarah has in store this month, and keep on clicking around the circle.
