For fun, I thought I’d post a few from my trip out to Florida to visit some of my favorite people on earth, Andrea, Warwick, and their two little girls. Andrea set up a fun excursion for us to Palm Springs for a polo match and I loved every minute of it. Champagne, ponies, stomping divots, did I mention the ponies? I have been in love with horses since I can remember, and first learned to ride at age 8 (or 9?) on polo ponies. So they are near and dear to my heart. Their athleticism is awesome to watch. As is the “scene” going on all around them. Perfect for a people watcher like me!
Such a great day, it turned from crazy bright and sunny to threatening and stormy on and off throughout the day, but it never rained and we had such a blast, with primo seats right next to the field.
And continuing with my catch-up game from, oh, like last winter! Here is the adorable and happy and utterly charming baby B. In these shots, he had just recently turned the big 1.0 and his momma wanted to capture him at that milestone. His mom also happens to be a dear friend of mine from college, so win-win! I went over to their place and snapped away. Older brother J is so sweet with him too. The funny thing is, that I have two boys, and many (actually most!) of my friends and family do too! Love that. Here are a few from that day…they don’t get much sweeter than this! And once again, how is it that the boys always get the most amazing long eyelashes??

“I’ll eat you up I love you so”
I am so glad I dragged the boys out a few weeks ago before Halloween when it was still somewhat warm and sunny, so I could get some shots of them running around in their “dinosaur/dragon” costumes. They are both really into both dinosaurs and dragons, and requested to be both things this year for Halloween. These costumes were perfect because 1) I didn’t have to make them (I am terrible at sewing, really terrible), and 2) they could really be either a dino or dragon. And the more I looked at Charlie’s costume with the spikes on the head, it reminded me of “Where the Wild Things Are” quite a bit too.
I was happy to finally catch the “golden hour” – that hour right before sunset that photographers love because of the warm, soft, golden light. I had been chasing it for weeks and it kept clouding over literally 20 minutes after the thought would cross my mind to try to get outside for some shots. In fact, this was attempt #2 in this location with the costumes. The first time, while we were driving the short distance there from our house, it got cloudy.

Jess, these are just amazing. I want copies to frame there so precious!
It’s been a while since I’ve entered a photo challenge at I Heart Faces, I’ve been so busy and so behind catching up on everything. But I saw this one and couldn’t resist! Usually, their contests involve a *human* face (it is I Heart Faces after all)…but this time, it’s a pet photo contest! I just LOVE photographing dogs. I have been getting into it a lot more lately, especially now that I am photographing pets in need of homes as a member of HeARTs Speak. In fact, I’ll be back at Chicago Canine Rescue in a couple of weeks doing another shoot! After thinking about it for a while, I decided I had to submit this shot of Oscar, he is just so full of personality. Such a little clown!

What a cutie! Great picture…
It’s fun to look at these now that the leaves are falling off the trees, it’s around 45 degrees out today, and now with daylight savings time kicking in today it will be dark by 5:00 pm here in Chicago. Winter is coming, Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner! And I’m still in mourning that summer (my favorite season) is over.
When we did this session, it was quite literally 96 degrees in the shade, and incredibly humid. Even though we waited until later in the afternoon, the sun was still beating down on us and it was threatening to storm so the heat was stifling. Even so, Clara and Declan were so awesome and did great exploring Belle Isle while I snapped away.

Kim - great details Jessica! Love the little guy in his red pants!
