It’s a fresh new year and we are happily continuing our little blog circle – this will be the third year! Hard to believe. Seems like just yesterday I met these ladies, who have become such dear friends. Such an unexpected and wonderful perk that came along with this hobby obsession illness past time (?) of photography.
It’s going to be a bit more challenge for me this year to post these one shots, because I am also doing a 365 project this year in which I shoot, edit, and post a picture every day. Which I hope boosts my creativity instead of totally zapping it, but only time will tell. There’s only so many shots you can take stuck inside your house in cold Chicago winters! But I’m happy for it because I got too far away from taking pictures of my own family last year.
So to kick things off my one shot for this month falls in the mommy goggles/I couldn’t possibly resist category:
Now follow me around the blog circle to see what my lovely and talented friends have been up to, starting with Stacey in NYC. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us, here’s hoping for some of her fabulous street photography! Happy new year and we’ll see you next month!
The other day the boys were bouncing off the walls as they tend to do when it’s been too cold to play outside much, and my solution was to roll paper all the way down the hallway to make a racetrack. Worked like a charm and kept them busy for almost 2 hours straight!
Now to figure out how to entertain them for the next 3 months…any ideas?
Closing out the first month of my 2015 daily photo project! 1/12 done, right? Not so bad.

This is my oldest nephew who is a senior in high school. I can’t believe he’s headed off to college next year! And though I still envision him permanently at about age seven, and I see him all the time and these pictures would prove otherwise…it’s still hard to believe. We headed to one of the train stations in La Grange to take some photos recently.
So I’ve been meaning to blog about some fun stuff, other than photography or photo sessions. Some of my favorite things and other randomness. Just call me Oprah. I always wished I could have made it into the audience for one of her “favorite things” shows. No such luck. Anyhow. So, Stitch Fix. What is Stitch Fix? It’s basically access to a personal stylist who picks clothes and accessories for you and sends them right to your doorstep for you to try on in the comfort of your own home! I heard about this from some other photographers and bloggers and had to give it a try.
You fill out a style and sizing survey, and pick a price range. There is a $20 styling fee that gets applied to anything you keep from your shipment of 5 pieces. Anything you don’t keep goes back in the provided mailer. Easy as that! If you keep all 5 pieces, everything is discounted 25% (I’ve only kept all 5 once so far out of about four boxes).
It’s really fun to get the box and open it up as you have no idea what some complete stranger has picked for you! Some of it works amazingly well, some misses the mark or doesn’t fit right at all, but of course that’s to be expected when the stylist has never seen you. Considering that, I’ve been shocked how well they have done with fit for me. And I do like that they pick things for me that I’d never pick for myself.
This are pictures from my first fix:
A peek at what’s inside:
The best part might be these little styling cards that come with each piece that show you ideas on how to dress the piece up or down.
This shocked me – they sent me a pair of skinny jeans that fit like a glove. I recently got a pair of boyfriend jeans from them that also fit perfectly. I only wound up keeping two things from this box because I had some clothes that were pretty similar already.
So if you need a little boost in your wardrobe, try it out, you’ll only be out $20 if you don’t keep anything…if you are like me and like to shop online anyhow, it’s perfect! Go check it out by clicking here. (fyi – I don’t get paid in any way to endorse Stitch Fix, but I do get a referral credit if you get a fix from them – so go on and do it!)

A picture a day in 2015, week 3! This week I really seem to have an unintentional thing for composing my subject on the right. Also, we had a short 4-day trip to Clearwater, Florida, a nice 50 degree upward swing in the weather for us.
For those of you following along, did you know you can sign up to get my blog updates sent right to your email? Why yes – yes you can! Just look at the bottom of this post and hit “email subscribe” and follow the steps! Easy peasy chicken squeezy as my 5 year old likes to say.
