It’s supposed to be in like a lion (which it was) and out like a LAMB! Dangit! It has snowed twice since the first day of spring. Oh well. Better luck next year. We’re off to Florida in search of some sunshine! Meanwhile, I’m posting this shot this month because it amuses me and I’d like to forget all of the snow. Calvin was standing like this in the hallway for long enough that I was able to grab my camera and snap away. Also, I just painted all of these walls and trim so you know, just admiring my handiwork. #mydogisweird
Please follow me around our happy little blog circle to see what everyone else has been up to in March. Next up is the lovely and very talented Stacey in NYC, I can’t wait to see what she’s got this month because she’s had a lot of fun stuff going on! See you next month. And, it *will* be spring for real then. Right?
So…the last of the snow and ice melted. It was warm enough to go outside without coats on. We got out our patio furniture, put away the snowblower, put away the snow pants, the boots, the heavy coats, etc. We fired up the grill and outdoor fireplace on Saturday night and ate outside. You know what’s coming right? Ah, yes. A lovely spring blizzard made an appearance on Monday the 23rd. I was so shocked to wake up and see everything covered in white. Ugh.
In any case, we are Florida-bound this weekend so the snow will be gone one way or another. I’m over it, that’s for sure!

So I recently blogged about my photography gear. I always love getting a little peek into what other photographers use, how they work, where they work, etc. So today I’m continuing my little backstage pass with my “office” space. And that would be in quotes because I work in a corner of my bedroom! Luckily we have a fairly big bedroom, because with three kids, there really is nowhere else to go in our cute little old farmhouse.
I love my little corner though, and it’s more than enough room for uploading, editing, bookkeeping, emailing, blogging, and all of the million other backend operations one has to do with a photography business. A couple of years ago my hubby bought me a larger desk and some shelves from Pottery Barn and it’s great. Holds pretty much everything I need, minus my packaging and shipping supplies (that post will come later)!
1. My little cardboard filebox. Holds all of my receipts, contracts, etc. I keep longer term stuff in the file drawers of the desk, but I use this box for active client stuff for the current year.
2. My little cup full of pens, scissors, etc. My kids cannot leave this alone and steal stuff out of here all the time. Also nearby are some fun gifts from photographer friends, a tape dispenser shaped like a camera and a keychain that’s made out of an old film canister.
3. My favorite Jonathan Adler vase with a fake rose my littlest son got me from Disney on Ice.
4. Some pictures taken with my Fuji Instax instant camera. See #7.
5. My iMac. Complete with smudges on the screen. I waited too long to switch to Mac. I’ve had this for a little over a year and I LOVE this thing so, so much. I wish I had done it sooner. It’s just seamless, and easier, and more intuitive and powerful enough to have Lightroom, Photoshop, and several other programs running at once.
6. A perpetual calendar designed by my bff.
7. Always a random toy or two around, as well as my Fuji Instax camera. It’s like a polaroid but the pictures are about the size of a credit card. Lots of fun, and my kids love playing with it too.
Yikes I need to dust…my oldest son decided to “decorate” my coaster with a sharpie.
Here we have the other corner shelf of my desk – there’s always a roll or two of film waiting to be sent out, some packaging material, paper shredder, and a client organizer that I made and framed. I use a dry erase marker to track where I’m at in the process with each current shoot. SO helpful! On the shelves I keep photography magazines and books, various camera manuals and other random stuff.
Last week in pictures. My 365 project continues. Posting a little late but I’m still keeping at it. The snow and ice are almost gone thanks to a huge turn in the weather. Spring break is rapidly approaching, soon we will be in Florida!
