I started the Buddy Project a little over a year ago as a personal project to document the special bond that kids have with their dogs. You can read more about the origin of the project in the first post here.
So Molly has been watching over Johnny since he was born. She’s a lot older now, but still keeps a watchful eye over him nine years later. In between naps that is. Molly is a sweet old Westie (West Highland White Terrier).
Johnny: outgoing, talkative, sweet
Molly: old, stubborn, quiet
At first I laughed at the “old” comment about Molly, because she may be 11 years old, but that’s not too ancient for a Westie. But she was kind of slow moving and most interested in napping.
I loved this: Johnny ran and grabbed his baby photo book because it had a picture of Molly watching over him when he was a newborn. And she just so happened to be sitting on the couch right above him just the same way when he was showing it to me. There were also a few surprise photo bombs from Gracie, Molly’s Chihuahua “sister”.
141/365 | the sweetest end-of-year performance by N and his preK buddies. their teachers asked them what they wished could always be. they sang it into the microphone and then walked down the aisle with a picture they drew. answers ranged from peanut butter and jelly to family members to ninjas. may there always be: rainbows and flowers.
142/365 | last day of preK!
143/365 | opening weekend at the lake, summertime begins now!
144/365 | lake buddies together again!
145/365 | not one of the most celebrated baby milestones but one of my favorites because it’s so handy, she’s able to hold her own baba now!
146/365 | these two just kill me sometimes. here they are watching baby einstein together on my phone.
147/365 | “I don’t have school, I can ride my bike all day in my pajamas if I want”…somebody’s a little amped about his first summer off.
148/365 | dining al fresco – some of the food did make it into her mouth
One for May. Memorial Day weekend at the lake, 2015. Summer begins no matter what the weather! C was out there casting for hours in between cloud bursts of rain. He’s actually getting pretty good at it, so he’s graduating soon to a real pole complete with hook, bobber, and worms.
When you look at this picture, you are looking at my childhood. I’m so happy that my kids are part of the fourth generation of our family to enjoy life at the lake. He didn’t so much as ask for the iPad all weekend and he still made it <gasp>.
Please follow me around our little blog circle to see what the lovely and talented Stacey was up to in May!

One of these summers, I will just show up at your lake house. With wine, so you won’t turn me away. Can’t wait to see your summer of fun roll out on here.

That would be fantastic! You are always welcome!

This week it’s (mostly) about my little girl! The weather is so all over the place, that I’m struggling finding things to shoot right now. But I’m trying to keep up!
134/365 | working from home
135/365 | in the mail today! she has a tiny bit of hair, enough to clip with a tiny barrette, and so, I couldn’t resist
136/365 | early morning, starting to crawl more
137/365 | keeping it classy while having a little backyard bbq
138/365 | always watching over his flock
139/354 | my elusive one, only five years old for a few more weeks
140/365 | going exploring, she cannot resist the doorstops
Big week over here in the Remus household – kicking off with a big and unexpected “first”. Mother’s Day was also this week – my first time as a mom of three, and as a mom of a little girl, mixed in with some simple, everyday, ordinary moments. My very favorite thing to photograph.
127/365 | first tooth – gone! cue the tooth fairy!
128/365 | seriously do I have to get up?
129/365 | waiting for the tub to fill up
130/365 | Mother’s Day – three generations of ladies (finally!)
131/365 | sweet potatoes and puffs
132/365 | playdate
133/365 | okay how can I get up there?
Week 18 of my 365 included a visit from my favorite photography girls – who came from all over the country for a little taste of Chicago. We had a blast. Toured the city, ate (deep dish), drank, took loads of photos, ate and drank some more, and then made impulse hat purchases for our day at the races at Arlington International Racecourse on Kentucky Derby Day. Looking forward to our next adventure…our tour has taken us to Golden, CO, NYC, and Chicago…what’s next…??
120/365 | this box entertained Nate for at least two afternoons
121/365 | playing tourist in Chicago with my four fabulous friends (a photo with selfie girl)
122/355 | a day at the races…irrelevant jumbotron
123/365 | instax memories from our weekend together
124/365 | night watch
125/365 | writing notes in his special locking Frozen diary from “Miss A-Del” (your goal of being favorite guest was realized with Nate, Adele!)
126/365 | cousins, aged 7 months – 18 years old!

You can never go wrong with a lockable diary as a gift! Whatever the age lol! 🙂 So glad I won Nate over. He’s such a cutie (as are the other 2, of course!) Thanks again for being such an amazing hostess to us all. I’m still smiling with the happy memories over our trip to Chicago. Happy times, my friend! <3
