life’s a beach | travel session in st. joseph, mi

Hello severely neglected blog! I have been in the weeds big time with fall photo sessions, but I will try to start blogging more of the great stuff I have been able to shoot since last summer and beyond now that I’m coming up for air a bit.

Here comes a bit of an overshare. I can’t help it! I LOVE shooting at the beach and this was such a fun session with friends. I don’t get many opportunities to shoot at the beach outside of my own family when we’re on vacation. This was such a blast to shoot at one of my favorite beaches in St. Joe, Michigan (cutest little town also!). It looks warm and sunny, but on this particular summer day, it was only around 60 degrees…and there was a frigid breeze blowing in off Lake Michigan. You’d never know it because these awesome kids are troopers.

one | november 2015

The thing about this blog circle is that it really makes you feel how fast the passage of time is! It really seems like we were just kicking off 2015 and now here we are, and it’s drawing to a close.

Looking for a shot from this month, I realized I truly took barely any personal shots. I only had a handful. September – November have been consumed with client work for me, which is wonderful, but often it’s at the expense of me not documenting my own family. I need to be more mindful to keep picking up my camera every day, even though my daily photo project got completely derailed once fall client work picked up.

My shot this month is of my little one-year-old lass, checking out the Thanksgiving scene at my aunt’s house. My Aunt Denise has hosted Thanksgiving dinner for years, and after a brief hiatus last year, it was back on. There are usually 25-30 of us. I absolutely love hanging out with my cousins, and now we all have little ones running around. My little B was the first girl of the bunch, but we are excited that more girl cousins are on their way! Of course my mom couldn’t resist the tutu outfit. We are having a little too much fun with the clothes!

one | october 2015

I shot a ton of pictures in October…just mostly for other people! The saying that October is to photographers what April is to accountants is most certainly true! It has been a blur! But aside from the few personal shots I snapped on Halloween, in the leaves, etc…something big happened around here this October. Our baby girl turned the big 1.0.

one love | chicago baby photographer

This little pumpkin turned one within only a couple of days of my own sweet baby girl! I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable family when the little miss was around 6 months old, and we had to commemorate her milestone birthday with some more images! Love this family, mom tipped me off to some fabulous street art that was just completed in one of my favorite Chicago neighborhoods, and we had a lot of fun using it as our backdrop. Happy birthday sweet baby N!! Keep smiling!

adored | chicago baby photographer

I was so excited when sweet baby N’s mom contacted me for a photo shoot. For starters, N is only a few days older than my baby girl…and they wanted an in-home shoot (love that!), they have a cute dog (wahoo!), and it just so happens that mom also just finished interior design school and has basically turned their home into one giant and amazing design lab. I could just tell it would be a fun shoot.

The morning of the shoot, the little miss was a bit out of sorts from having had a rough night, but you’d never know it, she rallied and did awesome. This little sweetie could not be more loved. Can’t you just tell how much her parents adore her?
