Happy summer everyone! Around here it’s been weird, kind of like living in a tropical rainforest. Muggy and thunderstorms on and off. Luckily our basement hasn’t flooded yet (knock on wood, because it floods easily), and our power has stayed on. In between rain storms we dodge outside and find fun stuff to do.

I was debating about which shot to use here, because I have plenty of shots from outdoors – at the lake, fishing, playing, etc. But I circled back around to this one from the beginning of June. It has a little story…this is the first time that me and my kids have had a summer off. I didn’t return to work after my baby was born last October, and so we are enjoying some newfound freedom.

My cousin Megan is off in the summer so we get together a lot with our kids which has been really fun. On this particular day, it was fairly cool and cloudy, so we decided it would be a great day to go to the Brookfield Zoo. When we got there, we saw just about every school bus from a 50 mile radius in the parking lot and realized our relaxing day and the zoo might be much crazier than we anticipated. So we did a speed tour and the boys were upset that we had to blow right past the family zoo where they love to get their faces painted like animals. I told them I’d paint their faces later (which I thought they’d forget about). Nope. So out came my eyeliner, and some pretty amateur “puma” and “cheetah” face paint jobs.

I have a ton of pictures of them in this bathtub together, which I’m sure they’ll thank me for when they are adults. They’re not in there together so much anymore, and since it’s the end of an era, I thought I’d capture them in there again while I had the chance.

Now please follow me around our small circle to see what my dear friends have been up to in June, starting with Adele in Texas!
