It’s blog circle time again! Earlier this month, we had a fantastic trip to Florida. Much needed sunshine after months of cold and snow. Charlie figured out how to swim underwater all on his own, and spend the majority of each day in the pool. He was so excited about it, and I was able to photograph him underwater thanks to a birthday gift I had just received from my family, an underwater camera! I had just about as much fun as Charlie had swimming playing around with my new camera. It’s a lot of fun, and shoots video so I was able to get videos of him swimming also. And I’m breaking the rules this month and posting another (such a rebel)! Sometimes the best camera is the one that you have with you. I decided to leave my dslr and fancy lenses at home this year when we went to the beach. Normally I wrap it up super carefully in about 3 layers of stuff and have to babysit it the entire time. Yes, I can get some great shots (and I love beach shots!) but it’s also a pain. This year, I brought just this same little point and shoot that I was using underwater. It did a decent job on land as well and was stress-free! Next, click here to catch a glimpse of what my multi-talented friend Krista has been up to on Bainbridge Island this month! I always love her captures of her family life on the island.
Kim - Oh my Jessica, these rock! Love the underwater image!! What a great time.
Adele - Fantastic underwater image Jess!! Love his expression – he’s having so much fun! I want your camera!

my photography gear - Jessica Remus Photography - […] 3. Olympus TG-3 Waterproof 16 MP Digital Camera. I really wanted something I could use underwater but didn’t want to spend the almost $2K I’d need to on an underwater housing for my dslr. This camera is so much fun! It shoots still and video underwater or above, and I chose it specifically because you can adjust settings manually. It has a pretty wide aperture for a point and shoot: going down to f/2. That wide aperture is important for getting enough light in while shooting underwater. It’s the perfect beach camera because sand and water can get all over it and it’s no problem. And my kids can drop it (which they have) and it’s all good. All of my underwater shots, and some of my beach shots are taken with this camera. You can see some of these shots here and here. […]
