where the wild things are|la grange park child photography

“I’ll eat you up I love you so”

I am so glad I dragged the boys out a few weeks ago before Halloween when it was still somewhat warm and sunny, so I could get some shots of them running around in their “dinosaur/dragon” costumes. They are both really into both dinosaurs and dragons, and requested to be both things this year for Halloween. These costumes were perfect because 1) I didn’t have to make them (I am terrible at sewing, really terrible), and 2) they could really be either a dino or dragon. And the more I looked at Charlie’s costume with the spikes on the head, it reminded me of “Where the Wild Things Are” quite a bit too.

I was happy to finally catch the “golden hour” – that hour right before sunset that photographers love because of the warm, soft, golden light. I had been chasing it for weeks and it kept clouding over literally 20 minutes after the thought would cross my mind to try to get outside for some shots. In fact, this was attempt #2 in this location with the costumes. The first time, while we were driving the short distance there from our house, it got cloudy.
