out and about|film

Continuing my fun with testing out different types of film, here are a few shots from my second roll of color film.  Film is so fun, it’s unpredictable, I can’t check my LCD screen, and I don’t know what I’ll get until weeks later after the scans are sent back to me from the lab.  I have only shot a few rolls so far, but it’s very exciting to get the email that your scans are ready.  Like opening a little present, and you never know what you’re going to get!  Sometimes good, sometimes bad, always humbling, and mainly just fun.  Playing with film for me is just that, playing, experimenting, having fun with photography.  Nothing super amazing here, but I do love the colors and tones of this film.  It’s a look you don’t see much anymore, and one that can’t be fabricated with digital.  This particular film stock is expired and no longer made, which makes it even more fun and unpredictable.  I’m not sure the colors here are as vivid as they would have been 7 years ago before this stuff expired, but I love how they are kind of washed out now.

Canon EOS3 + 85mm + Portra 160vc (expired) + developed and scanned by Indie Film Lab.
