Time for another “One” post of the month – a small photography blog circle of friends where we simply post one photo each month that speaks to us for one reason or another – imperfections and all! This month was so much fun! My fabulous and sneaky husband planned a surprise trip out to Sonoma for my birthday. It was sunny, 70 degrees, there was wine everywhere – what’s not to love? And to top it off – my best friend was in on it too and she and her hubby surprised me at the airport. It was a great time and such a fun and relaxing break from the 20 degree weather we’ve been having in Chicago. Can I go back?
I also entered my very first juried photography show – and had two of my images chosen for the exhibit! It was such a thrill to see my images professionally framed and up on the walls of a huge art gallery. One of them got selected for “honorable mention” by the jurors. The show at the Starline Gallery was such a good time, I was just giddy.
So this month, even though so many fun things were going on, I actually didn’t use my camera very much. Go figure. I think it’s partially that I was so busy and partially the winter blahs, the 20 degree cold and gray weather isn’t exactly the most inspiring for shooting. Thankfully, we are headed to Florida soon!
My “one” for the month – my sweet and elusive 3 year old. Charlie had the hugest cheeks as an infant. They were awesome, and there is just the faintest hint of them left so I am trying to capture those last bits of babydom before they fade away for good. Char just isn’t the hugest fan of my camera anymore, so I have to sneak in shots of him when I can! For instance, during his post-nap stupor:
Please continue around the circle and follow me to see my friend Adele’s post for March! Adele is a Scot transplanted to Texas who beautifully captures her daily life with her two littles, always with a good dose of her fantastic sense of humor.
Adele Humphries - Beautiful Jess!! Love those cheeks and the catch-ligts in his gorgeous eyes too! Beautiful!
Kim Lane - Oh Jessica, you’ve had a fabulous month!! I love this and I can just imagine those full blown baby cheeks in all their glory. I bet you could bury your lips in them. I still kiss Samuel’s little face so hard, and he will wipe it of 🙂
Mama Z - Oh how I miss fluffy babyhood cheeks! So kissable and squeezable! Beautiful conversion, Jess. I love everything about this image…especially the post nap stupor you so skillfully captured. 🙂
