The way I view {beginnings}

For the first installment of my “The way I view…” 12-month project, the first thing that came to mind thinking of the word “beginnings” was that each day begins very early for me these days.  Nate is quite the early riser.  He never did sleep well as an infant, but even now at around 17 months old, we are up way before dawn, usually just after 5 a.m.  So there you have it, the way I view beginnings…my early mornings with Nate.

These are from a few weeks ago, and it was my first attempt at shooting in really low light/with backlighting and playing with silhouettes.  These are typical Nate, just noodling around and occasionally checking himself out in the mirror in my room, and eventually trying to escape once he gets bored.  We just hang out together in the morning waiting for the sunrise…and for everyone else to wake up.  His big bum and belly always crack me up.  If you had asked me even 5 years ago if I’d ever be up this early so consistently, ever, I would have laughed so hard.  Thanks to my little redhead I am now a morning person.  I do more by 9 a.m. now than I used to do in an entire day, and you’d be surprised what’s open at 6 a.m. (I know them all…).  Also, haven’t used an alarm clock in a long time.  Nor have I been late to work.  I’ve seen the sunrise more in the past year or so than I think I have in my lifetime.  I was up a good 20 minutes before the royal wedding so we didn’t miss a thing.  Thanks, Natie.
